The South Hills Chorale will perform their annual holiday celebration concert, ’tis the Season for Singing, Dec. 14 and 15. The concert will feature John Rutter’s Gloria with brass and organ.
The program, which will be performed at 7:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, will also include a collection of holiday favorites. The chorale will be under the leadership of guest Music Director, Phillip R. Aley and Assistant Director, Barbara McAuley. In addition to the organ and brass instrumentalists, the Chorale will be accompanied on the piano by Patricia Reavel .
For 52 years, the Mt. Lebanon-based, 70-voice South Hills Chorale has been entertaining audiences and hundreds of organizations throughout Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. The chorale performs two major concerts annually–a holiday concert in December and a spring concert in May.
The chorale also performs private concerts for community, religious, and social groups. In addition, they fulfill their community mission through many on-site performances at facilities serving elderly and challenged persons. Recently, they have collaborated with the Mt. Lebanon High School Percussion Ensemble in a holiday concert series.
The Chorale’s singing members come from all walks of life, but they share one common goal –they love to sing and to entertain. The group prides itself on the ability to perform a wide variety of music styles from Bach to Broadway in a way that “wows” the audiences over and over again. “The program was outstanding and we haven’t stopped talking about the performance,” wrote one person.
Tickets, which are $15, are available by advance sale or at the door. Group rate ticket sales are also available. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Rick Smith at 412-220-4227 or 412-848-0291. For more information about the chorale, visit www.southhillschorale.org.
