Connor Bruce made an early exit from the PIAA singles tennis champion. The Peters Township sophomore lost in the opening round of the tournament held May 25-26 in Hershey.

In a 2.5-hour marathon match played at the Hershey Racquet Club, Bruce lost to Andrew Lutschaunig from La Salle College, 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 6-4. Lutschaunig was the District 12 champion.

Bruce was the District 7 runner-up to Robby Shymansky of Fox Chapel, who finished third in the PIAA tournament. Bruce was the WPIAL champion as a freshman.
