Bethel Park was named the 44th safest city in America by NeighborhoodScout. The award is for municipalities with a population of more than 25,000 people and is based on the total number of crimes per 1,000 residents.

Johnny Tillotson, an early 1960s pop icon, will reveal the first inductees in America’s Pop Music Hall of Fame at 5 p.m. March 15 at the Canonsburg McDonald’s, home to a collection of Bobby Vinton and Perry Como memorabilia.

A formal induction banquet will be held July 3 at the Southpointe Hilton Garden Inn.

Join the Butterfly Bandits from 7-9 p.m. March 21, at Cain’s Saloon, 3239 W. Liberty Ave., to raise awareness for thyroid cancer and research. All proceeds from the event and Chinese auction will benefit the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute’s Multi-Disciplinary Thyroid Cancer unit.

There is a $15 donation at the door.

• Seton-LaSalle High School will hold a Bingo Fundraiser from noon-2 p.m. March 23. Cost is $10. Proceeds benefit Seton-LaSalle and the Brookline Food Bank. For information and to RSVP, call 412-276-7150.

• A free electronics recycling event will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 16 in the parking lot of Keystone Oaks Middle School. Dispose of computers, monitors, printers, televisions, DVD players and other items. Commonwealth Computer recycling will also provide a number of other services at the event, including wiping all memory and internal storage off devices after the collection at no cost. If visitors would like to have their hard drives destroyed on site in front of them, the company will do so for just $10 per device. Bring as many devices as needed, but the collection is limited to one large TV (27-inches or bigger) per vehicle.

The Spring Wildflower Walk will be held at 9 a.m. April 20. Welcome the awakening of Mother Nature at the Green Tree Nature Center. The free tour of the Nature Center will guide you through a plethora of blossoming beauty. Meet the tour guide at the entrance to the Nature Center on Crestmont Avenue at 9 a.m. for a personal introduction to more than 18 acres of wildflowers, wildlife and nature. The rain date is 1 p.m. April 21.

The spring walk is sponsored by S.E.E.D., the community group that helps to maintain the Nature Center.

Annual swim passes are available at a 20 percent discount if purchased before March 31. A 10 percent discount is offered April 1-31.

Swim passes may be purchased at the Ice Center from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays, or at the Recreation Department main offices from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Passes are nonrefundable and are nontransferable. All pass holders must have a photo taken before coming to the pool. Not all family members are needed to complete the pass application, but all will be required to have a photo taken. Applicants must furnish proof of residency at the time of the pool pass purchase. A driver’s license is acceptable, as an address on a check will not be accepted. No phone or mail applications.

• JVS Environmental is offering electronic items disposal services to the residents and businesses of Mt. Lebanon from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 16 at the Public Works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive off of Cedar Boulevard.

The Bunny Hop will be held from 10 a.m.-noon March 23 in the Community Recreation Center. The morning will be filled with games, crafts and the Easter Bunny. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration at the rec center or online is not required but is encouraged. The fee is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents per child ages 2 and older. Volunteers are also needed and can be used for community service hours. Help is needed from 9:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Catherine Palmer, director of the Center of Audiology and Hearing Aids at the Ear and Eye Institute, will host a discussion on assisting caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients, who may be elderly spouses with hearing aids, that will focus on improving the quality of life. The event will be held at Vanadium Woods Village at 2:30 p.m. March 21, featuring Silver Sky Duo of George Suon and David Stirk.

The Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. April 1 in the commissioner’s room in the township building, 1820 McLaughlin Run Road.

Considered will be an application filed by Allen Sherwood for amended tentative approval of a planned residential development with 16 new lots and one parcel at 2534, 3550 and 2560 Willowbrook Road. The property is owned by the estate of Stephen P. and Mae G. Curtis, and is zoned Residential-1, single family residential district.

A copy of the application is available for inspection at the township offices from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
