Bethel musicians to play in junior high district orchestra

Fourteen Bethel Park School District musicians successfully auditioned and have been selected to play in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s Junior High District Orchestra Concert, which will be held Feb. 16 at Bethel Park High School.

Representing Bethel Park in this event will be freshmen Christian Beck (percussion), Lauren Bostedo (violin), Emma Davin (clarinet), Ryan Gillece (flute), Molly Gorges (oboe), Jake McCloskey (percussion), Maria Vighetti (viola), Joseph Wasko (tuba) and Julian Wu (violin).

Also participating are the following Independence Middle School students: eighth- graders Ken Barnhart (French horn), Ashley Burford (bass), Hannah Enderby (violin) and seventh-graders Will May (violin) and Connor Wholey (viola).

They are among a group of 116 students in grades 7-9, representing 43 school districts.

Bethel Park students are taught by music teachers Stephanie Glover and Jonathan Derby and the Independence Middle School students are taught by music teachers Nancy Tweel and Michael Petrossi.
