Parents of students who attend Neil Armstrong Middle School in Bethel Park are invited to attend a Parent Technology/Social Media Night at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6. This parents-only program will provide parents with information about technology and website safety, with an emphasis on social media sites, including Instagram.

The program is free and is open to all Neil Armstrong Middle School parents.

The Bridgeville Public Library will host “A Winter in Margaritaville” at 7 p.m. Feb. 23. The event is BYOB and Margaritas will be available for a donation.

Tickets are available at the library and are $30, cash or credit card.

Featured will be John McDonald and the Mango Men.

Canon-McMillan High School and Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) are partnering to provide a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Completion Session for Canon-McMillan parents and students from noon-7 p.m. Feb. 6 in the high school library. Parents will be able to complete their FAFSA with assistance from the experts in financial aid. To reserve a spot, contact the high school guidance office at 724-745-1400.

The Mt. Lebanon Commission is seeking applications with resumes from residents interested in serving on a municipal volunteer board.

Boards with openings include Board of Appeals (Codes); Economic Development; Environmental Sustainability; Historic Preservation; Hospital

Authority, Parks Advisory (ward 3 only); Pension Investment Advisory; Traffic; and Zoning Hearing and Alternate.

Terms will begin April 1. A description of each board, its meeting schedule and term lengths may be found at www.mtlebanon.org.

A copy of the amendment is available for public inspection at the township offices between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

• The Upper St. Clair Youth Steering Committee and Together in Parenting invite the community to Straight Talk, Technology and Teens: Parenting in the World of iPhones, Facebook and Other Technologies from 7-8 p.m. Feb. 13 in the Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park, 1551 Mayview Road.

Christina Hostutler will discuss ways children are using technology to connect socially, the pros and cons of texting and Facebook, and how parents can set appropriate limits for their child’s use of technology. The discussion will also include cyber bullying and other internet dangers and steps that parents can take to protect their children.
