SOLAR SMORES
Creative children, ages 6 to 10, are invited to make a solar oven and bake S’mores in the sun from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. July 26 at Shelter 4 in Peterswood Park. The Peters Township Parks and Recreation staff instructs.
Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).

KIDS REC
The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold activities such as dodgeball, kickball and other favorites for youths on Aug. 9 at the community center.
Ages 6 to 9 meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Ages 10 to 12 meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).

TICKET SALES
Summer amusement tickets to Kennywood, Sandcastle, Idlewild and Soak Zone and the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium are on sale for a reduced price at the Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department.
Visa, MasterCard, check or exact cash can be used for purchases. All sales are final.

SENIOR GAMES
The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department holds monthly games for seniors from 2 to 4 p.m. at the community center.
Bananagrams is the featured game on July 28. Crazy Eights will be played Aug. 25 and Parking Lot Bingo is set for Sept. 22.
Games are free but pre-registration is required. Call 724-942-5000.
BUTTERFLY EVENT
The Monarch Butterfly Festival will be held from noon until 3 p.m. July 31 on East Main Street in Carnegie.
The event will be held during the Farmers Market and participants will learn about conservation efforts as well as meet members of the community’s shade tree commission. Folks will also learn how to host plants and provide food sources for the Monarch eggs and life cycle.

SENIOR PICNIC
The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold a picnic for seniors from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at Shelter 4 in Peterswood Park.
Grilled hot dogs or hamburgers are provided but guests are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share.
Pollinator Gardens, bat boxes, recycling and more will be discussed.
Space is limited so pre-registration is required.

AM CONCERT
Hey Joe will plays hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s at 10 a.m. Aug. 18 at the outdoor amphitheater in Peterswood Park.
The event is free for senior citizens and includes light breakfast options and raffle.
LEBO LIBRARY
The Mt. Lebanon Public Library will conduct concerts in the courtyard at 7 p.m. Thursdays in August. Concerts move indoor if it rains.
Scheduled performers are: Steel City Calypso on Aug 4; RML Jazz on Aug.11; Duo Forte-Janice Coppola and Julie Harris and a mix of Klezmer and Greek music; Aug. 25; the Mt. Lebanon High School string quartet.
USED BOOKS
The Mt. Lebanon Public Library’s Book Cellar is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturdays for the purchase in the used book shop.
LEBO PROGRAMS
The Mt. Lebanon Public Library offers the following programs in August:
n The Bald Eagle at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 2. Learn about the conservation history of the national bird with Chris Kubiak from the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania.
n Cozy Mystery Connections at 7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Aug. 2. Librarian Eric Meisberger will discuss the genre and give example of authors and series.
n Who Knew? Places in Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Aug. 9. Discover odd, interesting and remarkable places and things in and around the city with educator Becky Carpenter.
n Reunion By Abby Mendelson at 10 a.m. Aug. 5. The award-winning novelist, journalist and lecturer will discuss his new book of short stories.
The library is also offering virtual tours at 5 p.m. Tuesdays in August.
Among the historical sites are Meadowcroft Rockshelter on Aug. 2; Somerset Historical Center on Aug. 9; Duncan Miller Glass Museum on Aug. 23 and Historic Fort Steuben on Aug. 30.

BOWLERS WANTED
Mature female bowlers of all skill levels are wanted to participate in a bowling league on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. at the Mt. Lebanon Lanes. Action starts Aug. 31 and continues for 33 weeks.

LADIES NIGHT
The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Ladies Night crafting event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 28. Participants will create a lantern that can be displayed at home. Fee is $10 ($15 for non-members).

DOG DAYS
The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the dog days of summer from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Shelter 4 in Peterswood Park.
Ages 3 to 5, accompanied by an adult, can participate. The event will include water games as well as an event to create an artistic masterpiece with water spray and paint. Appropriate clothing should be worn.
Fee is $5 ($8 non-members). Sign-up deadline is July 29.
