Matt Smith begins duties in 37th Senatorial District

State Senator-elect Matt Smith, D-Mt. Lebanon, resigned from the state House of Representatives, and has begun his duties in the 37th Senatorial District.
Smith’s district office will remain at 319 Castle Shannon Boulevard and the phone number is 412-571-2169. The toll-free number is 866-736-7477.
He also will have a satellite office in the Peters Township municipal building, 610 E. McMurray Road, which will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The phone number there is 724-942-7210. He is currently working on opening a district office in Moon Township.
Smith also was reelected to his state representative’s seat in the 44th district. The date of a special election to choose his successor should be announced by the Speaker of the House in the near future.
Residents are encouraged to call or visit the Mt. Lebanon district office or the Peters Township satellite office for assistance with state Department of Transportation paperwork, Property Tax and Rent Rebates, state PHEAA student loan application and problems with unemployment compensation, food stamps and Medical Assistance, or any state-related matter.
