SF Easter Egg Hunt benefits special needs students
The sun came out and the temperatures didn’t feel as cold on March 23 during South Fayette’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. The hundreds of children and their families in attendance also had the chance to have breakfast with the Easter Bunny prior to the egg hunt.
This year marks the seventh year in a row for the hunt, said South Fayette School District paraeducator Leslie Willetts. The money raised from the breakfast will go toward South Fayette students with special needs. The annual event is a cooperative effort between the township and the school district.
At precisely 11 a.m. the kids, grouped by age, started to fill their baskets with eggs. Some of the eggs were filled with candy and others contained a voucher the kids could redeem for a prize, like a stuffed animal.
Five-year-old Brad Bauman of South Fayette said he wanted to collect “thousands of eggs” at the hunt.
The children in attendance were all very excited for the Easter holiday. Eight-year-old Morgan Evans of South Fayette said she was looking forward to getting candy in her Easter basket and said her favorites are gummy bears and chocolate.
“I’m excited to find my Easter basket,” said 6-year-old Cassie Carpenter of South Fayette, who said the Easter Bunny hides her basket every year. She said she’s hoping to find gum in her basket this year.
